Labour law

Austria does not have a single statutory minimum wage; instead, around 450 collective agreements (Kollektivverträge) set sector-specific minimums. Since 2020 most agreements provide a floor of at least €1,500/month. The Labour Constitution Act (ArbVG) regulates worker representation through works councils.

Worker rights

Employees receive a minimum of 25 working days of paid annual leave (rising to 30 after 25 years of service). A 13th and 14th monthly salary (holiday and Christmas bonuses) is standard across most sectors. The Austrian social insurance system is comprehensive and includes healthcare, pensions, and unemployment.
