Labour law

Belgium's employment law is divided across Federal and Regional (Flemish/Walloon/Brussels) competencies. The standard working week is 38 hours and overtime is strictly regulated. Joint Labour Committees (Paritaire Comités) set sector-specific wages that usually exceed the national minimum.

Worker rights

Workers receive a minimum of 20 days paid annual leave plus around 10 public holidays. Unemployment insurance is generous compared to EU peers. End-of-year bonuses (13th month) and other benefits are common through collective agreements.
