Labour law

Spain's Workers' Statute (Estatuto de los Trabajadores) governs employment relations. The standard working week is 40 hours and workers must receive at least 12 hours rest between shifts. Collective bargaining is widespread and most sectors have additional agreements that improve minimum entitlements.

Worker rights

Employees are entitled to 30 calendar days paid annual leave (approximately 22 working days). Severance pay for unfair dismissal is 33 days' salary per year of service (up to 24 months). Social security contributions fund healthcare, unemployment benefits, and pensions.
